SECOND OPINION & ANGIOGRAPHY REVIEW

Second Opinion & Angiography Review
A second opinion can be helpful when bypass surgery has been advised, a previous angioplasty was unsuccessful, or you have been told that angioplasty is not possible. It can also help when bypass surgery is considered too risky or treatment options appear limited.
Dr. Tariq Shafi carefully reviews your angiography images alongside your symptoms, heart function, overall health, and previous treatment to assess whether medicines, angioplasty, or bypass surgery would be most appropriate.
He explains the available options, their expected benefits and risks, and helps you make an informed decision about your care.
Complex & High-Risk PCI
For patients with complicated coronary blockages or weakened heart function, complex PCI requires advanced techniques, careful planning and specialized technology. IVUS (Intravascular Ultrasound) allows us to assess the artery from within and helps guide precise stent placement, while IVL (Intravascular Lithotripsy) can help treat heavily calcified arteries. Cutting balloons and high-pressure balloons are also routinely used when required to prepare resistant or difficult blockages and optimize stent expansion. These advanced tools are an integral part of our practice and are frequently used in both routine and complex PCI to achieve the best possible procedural result.
Bifurcation Stenting
Bifurcation disease occurs when a coronary artery blockage involves the point where one artery divides into two branches. Stenting in this area can be technically challenging and requires careful planning and advanced techniques to maintain blood flow through both branches.
Left Main Stenting
The left main coronary artery supplies blood to a large portion of the heart. Significant narrowing in this vessel can be serious and requires careful assessment. In selected patients, advanced stenting techniques can be used to restore blood flow as an alternative to surgery when clinically appropriate.
CTO Intervention
A Chronic Total Occlusion (CTO) is a coronary artery that has been completely blocked for a prolonged period of time. Opening these blockages can be technically demanding and requires specialized techniques and experience. In carefully selected patients, CTO intervention can help restore blood flow to the affected area of the heart.
